I would swear to you up and down I had already upoaded this nearly a year ago, but looking through my art file, I realize now that I must've forgotten.
Yet another victim of "this will be just a quick little study, I swear" that rapidly devolved into a multi-layered hell, I sincerely do not know how I managed to finish with this particular look. And as happy as I am with the final colors, the amount of effort relative to the end result does not feel worth it. It took me about fourty? hours to get this done, possibly more, as I fiddled on and off with it across several months.
I like to imagine this guy as the member of a semi-nomadic tribe, of good status, but not a leader. He's got a wife and kids, and usually spends his days patrolling the rivers and plains that make up his people's home, fending off threats and leaving marks so that other orc tribes know the area is held by their group.
In the moment of this image, however, he's relaxing. It's a day off, and he's pulled out one of his nicer fishing spears, giving it a test thrust to see if its the one he wants to bring down to the river, where he plans to find a meal he can surprise the rest of his family with once they come home.
