Procreate (digital art program)
I was planning to mostly write during my vacation, but, being deeply unenthused with the sheer quantity of editing I realized I'd have to do, and having been introduced to a new digital art technique by my sister, I found myself burning the past sixteen hours or so drawing up a tiger wearing tiger striped shorts.
I almost gave him heart shaped boxers, but changed my mind on the basis that this was funnier.
The basic idea my sibling suggested (which I had known of and played with somewhat before, I confess, albiet mostly in real media), was to focus on tones first, then use overlay layers on top of the greyscale to get color.
As a matter of fact, this is actually several different overlay and multiply layers stacked on top of each other, because I can't seem to resist over-complicating things, even while trying to simplify, but the basic idea is the same. The fact that I managed a fully rendered piece in less than twenty hours is honestly a win in and of itself. Most of the projects I try to color end up massive time sinks of one revision after another as I try to get each color just right, ultimately loosing my initial vision and burning out somewhere between thirty-five to fourty hours in.
It's not perfect, but I am absolutely going to use this technique again.
I may also upload the greyscale version, but that will be for later, if I do.
