Thoughts

Painted as a sort of attempt to handle simple shapes with complex textures in different mediums. Because slugs are basically just tapered cones with eyes attached, right? Right! But they also have this sort of soft, crinkled texture to them, and that was a big part of what I was trying to capture, first with studies that hewed very close to my reference, then with a fantastic monster, to see if I could apply the same principles to a different form.

I'm really happy with how my sumi-e slug monster turned out, which is rare for me to say, sumi-e is so permanant, and I'm so prone to bungle, I almost always mess it up to one degree or another.

This was also marks the first time I made something with acrylics in years. I had really forgotten a lot of how I used to handle it, and this was a nice refresher.
